I’m a Chicago boy, and I’ve flown in and out of Chicago Midway International Airport dozens of times commercially.
As a simmer? Probably a hundred more since the 1980s.
There’s something special about watching professionals doing their thing — and when it happens over familiar territory, it’s even better.

As simmers, we study videos like this closely. We watch the flow, the timing, the discipline in the cockpit. Then we try to bring those same habits into our own flying — whether that’s on the simulator at home, in the aircraft, or during simulator training at the flight school.
A cockpit video of this quality, one shot from the pilot’s point of view, can teach a lot more than people realize.
I’ll be flying this approach tonight.
How about you?
Your thoughts,
Kenneth (Ken) Butterly
